The Expat Spouse

"I moved, and suddenly I don't know who I am anymore."

On paper, moving across the world is an exciting adventure.   But inside, you didn't just change your address - you changed your entire world, leaving behind your community, routine, and identity.  No one talks about the invisible baggage: The ambiguous loss and the nervous system shock of trying to adapt.

If you feel like a shadow of your former self, you aren’t failing. You are experiencing the profound psychological impact of displacement. You don’t need a general life coach to give you a standard pep talk. You need someone who understands the exact architecture of what you are living through.

• The External Reality: You've made a massive geographic or cultural move. Everything looks "settled" from the outside.

• The Internal Truth: You feel like a ghost of your former self, navigating identity fragmentation.

• The Cycle: You are exhausted from constantly translating a new culture and trying to "fake it until you make it." You feel guilty for not being happier, wondering how to grow roots in unfamiliar soil.

The Pastor's Wife

"I’ve learned how to survive. But I’m exhausted from living in the expectations of others."

Your family has relocated for a new ministry call, and you are expected to step seamlessly into a new community, smile from the front row, and support the vision. But nobody sees the pressure of the fishbowl - highly visible, publicly supportive, yet deeply isolated.

• The External Reality: You are highly visible, publicly supportive, and deeply involved in a demanding new ministry environment.

• The Internal Truth: You are living under a microscope. You have lost your privacy, your old support systems, and your personal identity to a public role.

• The Cycle: You carry the heavy weight of hidden grief, isolation, and systemic pressure. You love the mission, but you feel completely invisible within the institution and have no safe place to voice your struggles without risking your family's livelihood.

Trauma Survivor

"From the outside, I look like I have it completely together. But behind closed doors, I am  living in survival mode."

You are capable, driven, and highly responsible—the person everyone else leans on. But a recent life transition has acted as a catalyst, triggering old defense mechanisms, hyper-vigilance, and perfectionism that no longer serve you in this new season.

Your hyper-vigilance and perfectionism aren't character flaws; they are the brilliant ways your system learned to protect you. But you deserve a safe space to finally lay the armor down.

• The External Reality: You are a master at managing chaos, compartmentalizing, and looking entirely "together" to the world.

• The Internal Truth: Your body is keeping the score. The life transition has triggered past wounds, leaving your nervous system stuck in a constant loop of hyper-arousal or fight-or-flight.

• The Cycle: You are trapped in burnout—tying your worth to over-achieving, over-giving, and protecting everyone else's comfort while drawing a blank on your own needs.

MY 3-PHASE APPROACH

When you undergo a massive relocation or life transition, your nervous system defaults to a high-alert survival mode. My signature programs are structured into three deliberate phases to move you out of survival and into a fully realized, integrated life

Phase 1

Establishing Safe Ground (Weeks 1–4)

• Focus: Regulation & Stabilization

• What We Accomplish: We map your unique stress responses and build a tailored toolkit of somatic boundaries. Before we look at who you want to become, we make sure you feel completely safe in your current skin and surroundings.

Phase 2

Untangling the Narrative (Weeks 5–8)

• Focus: Deconstructing Trauma vs. Identity

• What We Accomplish: We separate what happened to you from your true worth. We analyze how the shock of your recent relocation is interacting with old survival patterns, allowing you to consciously leave behind what no longer serves you.

Phase 3

Cultivating the New Soil (Weeks 9–12+)

• Focus: Re-anchoring the Self-Concept & Purpose

• What We Accomplish: We design your new personal boundaries and anchor your core identity in values that cannot be uprooted by external changes. You leave with a clear blueprint for navigating your new landscape with purpose, alignment, and full ownership of your narrative.

Trauma-Informed Coaching vs. Traditional Therapy

Because I specialize in trauma, nervous system regulation, and bottom-up somatic modalities, I operate under a supportive empowerment framework rather than a diagnostic medical model.

Clients choose to work with me as a forward-facing companion to their deeper, past-focused therapy work, or step into coaching after completing therapy once they have a baseline of healing but need actionable, present-day transformation.

Marsha has led numerous staff development and training programmes across our School Trust, raising awareness of the impact of trauma and giving practical solutions to teaching and support staff on how best to support students in an educational environment. The programmes have been highly effective, well received and positively evaluated.
